This ancient Roman short sword is claimed to the the same carried by Correus Appius Julianus the slave born son of retired Roman general Flavius Appius Julianus who was posted as a centurion to the Legio II Augusta in Western Britain under the command of provincial governor Sextus Julius Frontinus in Roman Britain circa AD 76-79. He was regarded as man torn between the duty for his country and the love of a Briton woman.
