The son of a Viennasian Artisan, the boy showed an ability in academics and was taken in to become a church scribe. During his studies he found few friends and would often sneak his way into the basement of his monastery where he is discovered tomes consider heretical by the church. It wasn’t until he was a young man that he even dared open one. He read about a great many fantastical subjects far more macabre than he could possibly imagine. He soon discovered the hermetic necromancy within these pages and began to attempt the rituals. It was long before the managed to summon spirits and other foul things.
Ironically, he would have likely killed or damned himself completely if it were not for his tutor a Mistress Tevya Blanch. Who focused the boy’s attentions to form a more adept henchman for her rule over a small Alpine village. Simon had already botched a spell so completely as to mar his soul. Animals and people could sense the corruption and he was found an outcast. With his assistance, Mistress Tevya made herself Baroness over the village of Rarius.
It was Solomon Kane that defeated Simon and killed his Mistress that allowed the him to recount and seek redemption. Simon vowed never to wield his sorcery again and made it his purpose to fight the abyss and the monsters from as he had already become a monster himself.
