He is the chief constable of the French African Colony of Marais D’Tarascon. He does not like strangers and has a distrust of any sailors and travelers to his village. When the dead began to rise and attack the living Gremin had to slay his own son and wife as they tried to eat him in his own home. He still suffers the anguish of that day and tries to forget at the bottom of a wine bottle.

Having recently become a Wanderer, he has turned his grief into rage against injustice and the supernatural. He stands as a furious sentinel eagerly awaiting the return of Marcel Tarascon, the Zombie Master, and his ghoulish brother Jean. Gremin hopes to make both of the undead brothers pay dearly for their crimes.
